I like my Tim Tams like I like my TV schedule…slammed

by The Girl

Anyone else notice a lot of Australian actresses crop up as main characters in the new shows this year? Here’s a rundown:

Rachael Carpani (Against the Wall)

Abby Kowalski. The Internal Affairs detective from a family of cops. Because who doesn’t love an Aussie playing a Chicagoan in what is suppsoed to be Chicago, but is obviously Toronto.

Phoebe Tonkin (The Secret Circle)

Faye Chamberlain makes up 1/6 of the titular Circle & 1/2 of my new favorite couple.

Rachael Taylor (Charlie’s Angels)

Another Abby! Abby Sampson. Former Seattle Grace-Mercy West surgeon New York socialite really into burglary. Now an Angel.

Margot Robbie (Pan Am)

Laura Cameron. Newest Pan Am stewardess, Life magazine cover girl, & sister of the awesome Kate.

Poppy Montgomery (Unforgettable)

Carrie Wells. The NY detective with hyperthymesia.

Side note: not really sure I like the Pops as a redhead.

Bonus: Claire Holt (The Vampire Diaries)

It’s not a new show, but it is a new character! Claire Holt is back! Hooray! After her stint as Emily “Revolving Door” Fields’s girlfriend on Pretty Little Liars, she is now playing recent undead Undead & Original sister, Rebecca, on The Vampire Diaries. She gets to rock a British accent!

Another bonus involving Claire Holt? She & Phoebe Tonkin starred in the Australian show “H2O: Just Add Water” together.

Top 5: GET OFF THE SHOW, Wait Now You’re My Favorite

by The Girl

Sometimes the introduction of a character does not go over well with us. They snatch up screen time that could be better used showing a character we ACTUALLY care about. The next thing you know you’ve made up a endearing nickname & are quoting all their lines.

Here are our Top 5 characters we initially hated, but now LOVE

The Girl:

  1. Ivy Sullivan (90210)
  2. Ben Linus (Lost)
  3. Anna (The Vampire Diaries)
  4. April Kepner (Grey’s Anatomy)
  5. Ana Lucia Cortez (Lost)

Ben didn’t win the number one spot only because his annoyance level was heavily based on frustration level due to his unknown intentions (is he lying? who is he? WHY IS HE BEING SO CREEPY! omg Sayid is going to beat him to death & I don’t care!) Whereas as Ivy was just plain annoying at the beginning. But now I love her so!

The Boy Wonder:

  1. Caroline Forbes (The Vampire Diaries)
  2. Sawyer (Lost)
  3. Britta Perry (Community)
  4. Ellen Tigh (Battlestar Galactica)
  5. Sophia Maguire (The Event)

Top 5: Humans

by The Girl

We’re constantly fearing for their lives and/or feeling sad for them for not knowing what’s going on. Either way they tend to get the short (or far less badass) end of the stick. Here are our Top 5 Humans on otherwise supernatural shows!

The Girl:

  1. Alaric Saltzman (The Vampire Diaries)
  2. Delores Herbig (Dead Like Me)
  3. Maria DeLuca (Roswell)
  4. Noah Bennet (Heroes)
  5. Fred Burkle (Angel)

(The Illyria bit on Angel is not being counted…obviously)

The Boy Wonder:

  1. Chloe Sullivan (Smallville)
  2. Katie Andrews (No Ordinary Family)
  3. Lafayette Reynolds (True Blood)
  4. Liz Parker (Roswell)
  5. Orwell (The Cape)

We’re talking pre-meteor power manifestation Chloe. So, the first four seasons.

The Week in Pictures

by The Girl

Here are a few of our favorite bits from a few of the shows we watched this past week:

90210 – S03E17 “It’s High Time”

The boys! Ade’s intro!

Gossip Girl – S04E16 “While You Weren’t Sleeping”

Dan & Blair friendship is the best thing to happen to this show

Greek – S04E08 “Subclass Plagiostomi”

Katherine! We all know how I feel about her

Pretty Little Liars – S01E18 “The Bad Seed”

The award for creepiest use of a flute goes to…PLL!

Glee – S02E14 “Blame It on the Alcohol”

New Directions needs to get drunk more often

Modern Family – S02E16 “Regrets Only”

Gloria doing karaoke to “Angel of the Morning” almost made me cry

America’s Next Top Model – S16E01 “Erin Wasson”

Tyra’s opening. Enought said. Cycle 16 IS ON!

Community – S02E17 “Intro to Political Science”

Ethnicity: Hot

I was a huge fan of Abed & the Secret Service agent

Parks & Recreation – S03E06 “Indianapolis”

Break-up tales from Leslie Knope may be the greatest thing ever.

30 Rock – S05E16 “TGS Hates Women”

Jenna’s slap/point needs to be in my arsenal. “I’m like a human bra.”

Skins (UK) – S05E05 “Nick”

Somehow Nick went from being a horrible person to one of the best of Gen Three.

The Vampire Diaries – S02E16 “The House Guest”

So glad Katherine is back! Also, they finally got Candice Accola (aka former Miley Cyrus back-up singer) to sing on the show! Look how happy it made Elena & Bonnie!

Grey’s Anatomy – S07E16 “Not Responsible”

The Hot OB. The plot twist no one saw coming. The relationship everyone saw coming.
